Histotechnologist – Day Shift ABOUT THE POSITION We have an immediate need for a full time Histology Technologist for a Hospital lab located in the south shore. This is a full time day shift position offering competitive salary and benefits. RESPONSIBILITIES Prepare surgical and cytological material for microscopic examination by pathologist in an accurate, efficient and expeditious manner within the limits of laboratory policy and procedure according to JCAHO, CAP and OSHA regulations. Prepare and maintain equipment for all types of tissue processing, embedding, cutting and mounting; label, record and verify quality of slides. Provide technical assistance and training to laboratory personnel as required. Requisitions and processes specimens for gross examination by Pathologist. Processes all tissue specimens for microscopic examination by the Pathologists. Performs special stains and cytology preparation. Performs quality control and quality assurance procedures. Prepares and replenishes reagents and supplies. Maintains complete and accurate records. SCHEDULE Monday – Friday Day Shift REQUIREMENTS At least 1-2 years of recent experience in histology and immunohistochemistry required. Associates Degree preferred ASCP registered or eligible with HT or HTL Experience using Ventana Special Stainer and Benchmark XT preferred. ABOUT THE FACILITY The pathology department maintains a full-service diagnostic laboratory processing tests 24 hours per day, seven days a week. The laboratory is accredited and licensed by: The College of American Pathologists (CAP) The American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CLIA) The laboratory performs 1.2 million tests annually and provides services for inpatient, outpatient, emergency department, health centers, physician offices, long term care facilities and nursing homes. Laboratory services include comprehensive anatomic pathology, cytology, histology, chemistry, coagulation, hematology, microbiology and transfusion medicine. Pathologists are board certified in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, cytology, hematopathology and blood bank. Laboratory staff includes MD pathologists, technologists, technicians, lab assistants and administrative staff.
