Job Description:

Under the direction of the Dean of the School of Justice Studies, the Assistant/Associate Dean and Director of the Justice System Training & Research Institute performs a wide variety of administrative duties in support of, but not limited to, the overall operations of the Institute, its staff, and programs. Serves as the Institute liaison with the criminal justice community in the development and delivery of programming within the Institute, as well as serves as an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice in the School of Justice Studies.

The Assistant/Associate Dean manages the day-to-day operations of the Institute, oversees any revisions, additions, and deletions to any University publications which address Institute programs and services. Coordinates any statistical data and material to accurately complete any necessary reports, annually, quarterly or monthly. Coordinate Institute related applied research with the Dean of the School of Justice Studies. In addition the Assistant/Associate Dean assists with the following: strategic planning for the School of Justice Studies; program assessment; grant submissions; course related matters such as scheduling and faculty course assignments; coordinate and assist with representation and presentations at open houses, accepted student days, orientations; provide guidance in the resolution of student concerns, complaints, inquiries; and assist with special projects as assigned by the Dean. As the primary external relations representative for the Institute, the Assistant/Associate Dean will develop and maintain positive relationships with members of the operational criminal justice system and legal community and monitor responses to the criminal justice community about services offered through the Institute to assure that information is accurate and timely.


We seek a colleague who is enthusiastic about management, teaching and community involvement, who will be an engaged member of the School of Justice Studies as well as the campus community at large. We are seeking applicant with a Ph.D. in the social sciences with a minimum of 5 - 7 years experience of significant administrative employment as a criminal justice practitioner, as well as teaching experience. A J.D. with criminal justice experience will be considered.
